New Zealand

Original Event date: 2012-01-01

View

Ok Pilots its off down under as its Winter in the Northern hemisphere and Summer in the Southern hemisphere......to New Zealand. It has a temperate maritime climate. The average maximum temperature ranges from 20-30 degrees Celsius. In the north, it's sub-tropical and in the south it is clean and brisk. The weather can be changeable so be prepared. Flying is easy. The skies are comparatively uncrowded. All roads are signposted and the main roads are sealed. Driving is on the left so beware you pilots who take off in a rent-a-car for the day. Regarding services, electricity is supplied at 230/240 volts, 50 hertz. Most motels and hotels will have 100 volt AC sockets for electric razors but other than that you will need adapters, so we do not want to see any stubble growing during the month. There are public phone boxes and most mobile phones operate here for those who need to contact home. There is a lively entertainment scene with nightlife, cafes, bars and top class restaurants. Most cities stage first class concerts and shows. So see you there with a glass of "amber nectar" in one hand and a "shiela" in the other (or is that a different country). We cover 20 hops over 1,611 miles this month. .

Merry Christmas

Original Event date: 2011-12-01

OK ... I get it. Christmas is a time of year where you should be surrounded by snow so Santa Clause can come and go with out a trace. I get it! But for the other 50% of the planet that doesn't get any snow getting Saint Nikolaus around requires a bit more strategy. That's where Air SeaTac Virtual Airlines come in, because Father Christmas needs us to take the place of his reindeer team ... cause we're go to the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean!!! You see, one of Papai Noel's prized reindeer ha caught a bad cold and that caused his nose light to go out and can't make this portion of Kris Kringle's Christmas present rounds. So Sinter Klaas needs us to get him safely out to deliver his Christmas joy and cheer to all those good little boys and girls and even a few not so good big boys and girls. Head off on down to Lubbock Texas and get your Santa on ... HO HO HO! .

the Klondike Gold Rush

Original Event date: 2011-11-01

View

Relive the days of yesteryear when the taste of adventure (and gold) was in the mouth of every young man. Venture north to Alaska and find fortune or your misfortune as happened to many a gold prospector. The Klondike gold rush, sometimes referred to as the Yukon gold rush, drew people from all over the world to the Klondike region of northwestern Canada after gold was discovered there on August 16, 1896. The gold rush lasted only a few years, essentially ending in 1899. Spurred on by newspaper campaigns, at its height in late 1897 to mid 1898, about one hundred thousand people, mostly novices to prospecting, headed for the gold fields. The Klondike is remembered for the hardship endured by the would-be prospectors, immortalized by pictures of their ascending of the (Golden Staircase) Chilkoot Pass, by books like The Call of the Wild, and films like The Gold Rush. Few got rich, and it is estimated that the money spent getting there exceeded the value of gold found during the rush. One hundred thousand people set out on the 1890's Klondike gold rush, but only 4000 found gold and less than 300 of them made over $15,000. So for every 1000 hopefuls who set out to mine, only 3 made it rich. So head out, stake your clame, make your fortune and enjoy that what is ALASKA! This hoplist was inspired by and is dedicated to Air SeaTac's very own Alaska loving gold rusher pilot and friend Terry Kells AST363 ... we'll see you there! .

the Iron Curtain

Original Event date: 2011-09-01

View

Imagine yourself being watched around the clock, your phone calls being recorded, living in an ice-cold house during winter, with no power, no gas, no food and no medicine. Imagine yourself being arrested and being beaten within an inch of your life because you dared to criticize the government. This was the daily life behind the "Iron Curtain", not so long ago. Fortunately, that era is gone now. Today, prepare your airplane for a tour of the former European communist countries. Start from the main airport of the former East Germany, Berlin Schonefeld and fly through the capital cities of the late Red Empire. The flight will end up at Moscow (where else?) at Sheremetyevo Airport. ... oh, and watch out for the KGB
